Terralift  -  This is a process of aeration of existing absorption trenches that will allow the system to absorb and once again disperse effluent. This is very effective in renewing a system that has been in service for ten years or more. Septic aeration can be done without digging up the grass. When it is done, you don’t have to reseed your lawn. Aeration can also be done in lawns that have irrigation systems installed. Stone Excavating also offers a ten year warranty on Terralift aeration.

Septic System Maintenance & Frequently Asked Questions Page

Graveless Absorption  -  Stone Excavating Offers Infiltrator chambers for both trench type and bed systems. These chambers offer a more efficient method of effluent dispersal. Chambers also allow construction in small areas because they can be hand carried to the site. They also are great for repairs because they require less construction traffic on the turf.

Mound and Pump Assisted Systems  -  Stone Excavating installed their first mound in 1978, and has continued to observe new technologies that might allow a site to be developed with non conventional systems. We continue to upgrade installation practices to allow low maintenance costs and long life.

Filtered Septic Tanks  -  Stone Excavating installs septic tank filters in every septic tank that they sell. Septic tank filters keep solids from leaving the tank much better than a baffle alone. Filters normally require cleaning when the tank is pumped, however they may require rinsing because of higher than normal flow. This minor inconvenience is offset by the benefit to the absorption trenches. Solids that flow past the septic tank will clog the absorption trenches. Filtered tanks have a surface access that provides ease in removal of the filter for cleaning. We also can install a filter in existing tank to extend the life of the system.

Residential Site Plans  -  Stone Excavating will provide a residential site plan for new construction. This is a requirement for all permits issued in Marshall County. There is a fee for this service, however this fee is discounted from the installation cost when Stone Excavating installs the system.

Service What We Sell  -  Some installers will not service pumps and controls. Stone Excavating believes that this is important for customers to know that they will be able to get service on their equipment if there is a problem. When we service a pump or control, it allows us to know what we can do to prevent such problems in the future. Over the years we have made several changes in installation practices that prevent corrosion, or eliminate little problems that can shut down a system. Because we are a small company, when you have a problem, you don’t have to ask for a manager to address the problem. If we made a mistake when we installed the equipment, we will take care of it.
